PERSONAL WORK AND EXPERIMENTATION
USA 2010-2018
“there will be no more boots” declares Peggy Kornegger in 1975’s Anarchism: The Feminist Connection. My initial inspiration was sparked from this poem, an illustrative account of the Earth enacting retribution. I was interested in the idea of radical growth while utilizing classic symbols of femininity and luxury: florals. I looked at formal wear through the celebration of the birthday. Clown references, round silhouettes, and situational textiles combine with protest wear influences from the European punk scene of the 1970s. My intention was to represent the contemporary party girl. Updated standards, deconstructed refinement, and humor framed a muse who lives with the political, environmental, and human concerns of the 21st Century.
